Rossie Cortes joined a foundation advocating for children’s health in December 2016 as the Director of Foundation External Affairs. As part of the organization, she is in charge of marketing communications, advertising, and digital media efforts.

Cortes is professional with over 20 years of experience in public relations and marketing communications with expertise spanning from strategic planning, crisis management, brand awareness, corporate positioning, and media relations who has successfully achieved targets and growth within close-knit markets. She has worked with renown clients like Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, Cisco Systems and other Fortune 500 companies as well as start-ups across a variety of multi-cultural markets.

As the Director of Foundation External Affairs, Cortes has established new initiatives and programs for e-philanthropy resulting in an increased volume of online donations and new monthly giving donors. She has developed targeted strategic plans to streamline advertising and public relations efforts increasing brand awareness and donor participation in events. Under Cortes leadership, the external affairs department has evolved from a PR-centric department to an all-encompassing marketing department able to effectively identify opportunities with existing and emerging markets.

Before joining the foundation, Cortes worked as a Senior PR Manager & General Manager for IQ Media Communications in charge of the developing PR and marketing communication strategies for established and emerging markets across the Caribbean and LatinAmerica. In this position, Cortes managed the strategic planning for business US-based companies with interests in the existing consumer markets in South America.

As an account executive for Fleishman Hillard Puerto Rico, she specialized in media relations, internal & external corporate communication, and the development and implementation of public relations and integrated marketing communications strategies for industry leaders. Her expertise in the technology industry set her apart as the expert for computer hardware and software products for business-to-business as well as business-to-consumer. Cortes ability to create compelling content for those hard-to-pitch markets often exceeded media coverage goals.  

Earlier in her career, she worked as a reporter for Caribbean Business, covering the technology and advertising business beats, writing several frontpage stories. She was also the general manager for Ocho Media and one of the founders of the magazine Art Premium, which continues to exist today. In addition, she worked as the Public Relations Manager for Better Communications Group, and PR Account Manager for Marketing Solutions. Within those positions, Cortes managed and coordinated the PR and advertising activities for accounts ranging from retail, banking, consumer products, construction, telecommunications, and technology.  

Cortes also worked as a writer with over 565 bylined articles and as a ghostwriter with 14 books written for top executives and clients in the US and Latin America. She has written three books under her name and became a USA Today bestselling author in 2017.

She received a B.B.A. in Marketing and a B.A. in Business Administration from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico and is currently working towards an M.S in Marketing from the Florida International University in Miami, Florida.
